The 8th World Geothermal Congress (WGC2026) opened in Calgary, Canada from June 7th to 11th, 2026. The conference was hosted by the International Geothermal Association and organized by the Canadian Geothermal Association. With the theme of "Gathering Strength for Technological Innovation", it brought together approximately 2,000 representatives from over 900 enterprises and institutions in 88 countries. Sinopec Green Energy(SGE) attended the conference along with the delegation from Sinopec, showcasing its development highlights in the geothermal technology system and the scale of the geothermal industry.
During the conference, the company held in-depth discussions with the International Geothermal Association, Geothermal Canada Geothermal Association, Indonesia Geothermal Association, Hungarian Regulatory Authority, Seequent (New Zealand), Ormat (USA), Turboden (Italy) and National Oil Corporation of Kenya. The exchanges focused on policies of target geothermal markets, technologies for geothermal power generation equipment such as ORC systems, as well as cooperation opportunities in overseas oil & gas and new energy sectors. Zhao Xin, Director and CFO, attended and delivered a speech at the thematic forum on large-scale application of geothermal energy at global airports. Sun Caixia, CTO, presented a technical report entitled Methodology of AI Control for District Geothermal Heating Systems.

Looking back on our participation in three consecutive World Geothermal Congresses, from Reykjavik in Iceland, Beijing in China to Calgary in Canada, SGE has witnessed its geothermal business scale double over this period. We have written an inspiring chapter of high-quality development for clean energy and achieved a leap-forward transformation from focusing on the domestic market to taking a leading role on the global stage.
This attendance at the Congress in Calgary marked the company's first overseas appearance on the international. Through diversified exchange activities including special technical presentations, high-level forum engagements and government-enterprise dialogues, the company fully demonstrated its profound technical expertise and independent innovation achievements in geothermal resource exploration, development and comprehensive utilization.
Meanwhile, we conducted in-depth exchanges and learning with global geothermal partners on geothermal power generation technologies, equipment and potential cooperation projects. We gained a comprehensive understanding of industrial support policies and business environments across geothermal markets worldwide, which has accumulated valuable experience for our future exploration of high-temperature geothermal power resources and expansion of overseas geothermal businesses.
