Innovation

With Sino-Icelandic Geothermal Technology R&D Center as the platform, SGE has formed six technology systems, including geological exploration, geothermal drilling, cascade utilization, discharge reinjection, energy integration, and intelligent monitoring.

The Sino-Icelandic Geothermal Technology R&D Center was established in December 2016 by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Iceland, with the Chinese side designating Sinopec Star as the main partner and the Icelandic side designating the Icelandic Energy Authority and Arctic Green Energy as the joint partner. In December 2019, the center promoted the establishment of the China-Iceland Geothermal Institute as the Chinese branch of the UNU Geothermal Institute. A number of SGE professionals have participated in systematic, professional and international training at the Sino-Icelandic Geothermal Technology R&D Center and the China-Iceland Geothermal Academy.

Over the years, SGE has attached great importance to technological innovation, continuously increased the allocation of scientific and technological personnel and investment in scientific research, and has obtained 44 technical patents, undertaken 9 national scientific research projects, and authorized hundreds of patents; established "Geothermal Energy Scientific Research and Demonstration Base" and "Joint Geothermal Energy Scientific Research and Demonstration Base" with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Xi'an Jiaotong University respectively; five provincial companies have been approved as local high-tech enterprises.

Geological Exploration

Drawing on the advanced technology of oil and gas exploration of Sinopec, SGE has formed an efficient geothermal resource exploration and evaluation technology system based on controlled sources and geomagnetic exploration methods, supplemented by ground micro-motion, etc.

Geothermal Drilling

We have developed a series of geothermal drilling and completion technologies, such as optimized design of well structure for different types of thermal storage, low-density, low-solid-phase fluid drilling fluid system with minimal thermal storage damage, and efficient well washing process, and developed the "well factory" model.

Cascade Utilization

For different types of buildings, heating ends and different heating grades, we adopt graded and graded utilization technology to improve the efficiency of geothermal energy utilization.

Discharge Reinjection

SGE has a series of mature geothermal tailwater reinjection technologies of "balanced extraction and irrigation, reinjection in the same layer, heat extraction without fluid consumption", with full reinjection in limestone reservoirs and leading reinjection in sandstone reservoirs in China.

Energy Integration

We make full use of deep and shallow geothermal energy, industrial waste heat, sewage source, air source, natural gas and other clean energy sources to achieve multi-energy complementary and integrated utilization, improve system efficiency and safety, and reduce operating energy consumption.

Intelligent Monitoring

Apply real-time data monitoring, resource dynamic monitoring, geothermal energy utilization efficiency monitoring and other information means, centralized scheduling management, unattended and remote control.
