On 3 April 2026, Mrs. Kristín A. Árnadóttir, former Ambassador of Iceland to China, led a delegation to SGE’s Xi’an Xianyang International Airport Energy Supply Project Phase-III. The delegation visited the project site and heat exchange stations, was briefed on operation and maintenance details, and learned in detail about the company’s geothermal industry scale, project distribution and future development plans.

Mrs. Árnadóttir reviewed the friendly history of geothermal technology exchanges between China and Iceland, and commended the Joint Venture for its contributions to ecological improvement and climate change response. She recognized the project’s demonstration value in clean energy application at major transport hubs.She noted that the Joint Venture had effectively implemented the China-Iceland Joint Statement and played an important part in advancing geothermal development and green transition. She looked forward to deeper cooperation in clean energy technology and projects between the two sides to jointly promote global carbon neutrality development.
