On November 19, 2024, H.E. Katrín Jakobsdóttir, Prime Minister of Iceland 2017-2024, Senior Emissary of Arctic Circle and Chair of the Polar Dialogue, and Ms. Eva Laufey Eggertsdóttir, Project Manager of the Arctic Circle Secretariat & Special Assistant to H.E. Katrín Jakobsdóttir, paid a visit to SGE in Xiong’an New Area. Mr. Liu Jian, CEO of SGE, Ms. Zhao Xin, the CFO, and Ms. Sun Caixia, the CTO, received the delegation.

H.E. Jakobsdóttir visited SGE’s geothermal exhibition hall, smart geothermal control center and the integrated energy system of Sci-Tech Innovation Center, particularly the operating geothermal heat centrals, and learned about SGE’s development history, renewable portfolio and highlights during WGC2023. Speaking highly of SGE’ development, H.E. Jakobsdóttir praised the joint venture between China and Iceland as a model for geothermal cooperation, and expected SGE to accelerate and lead the development of global geothermal industry.

Liu Jian expressed his gratitude regarding H.E. Jakobsdóttir’s long-term support in China-Iceland geothermal cooperation and WGC2023. With the support of both governments and shareholders, SGE has grown into the largest, fastest growing and most technically advanced geothermal enterprise in China, with an installed direct utilization capacity of 4GW. SGE is committed to pooling more efforts in clean energy utilization, GHG saving, global energy mix restructuring and the fight against climate change.
