On March 31st, the heating system of Xiong’an New District Rongdong Area, which is under SGE’s management and operation, came to its pause, marking the end of its first heating season for 5 months.

Rongdong Area, as a leading area for Xiong’an New District development, undertakes the tasks of resettling the first batch of relocated residents and supporting Xiong’an New District development. To date, 2 energy stations and 18 satellite stations have been built with a heating area of 5.58 million m2, offering heating services for 75 communities, 41,885 households of residents, shops, schools and clinics within it. 4 hotlines are available for 24-hour customer services.

The heating system in Rongdong Area employs an operation model that put multiple forms of energy and multiple heat sources under central control. Making full advantage of local middle and deep layer geothermal resources, it has created a comprehensive heating system integrating middle and deep layer geothermal energy, gas, electric cooling + energy stored from water, and shallow layer geothermal energy, providing 100% of clean heating. During this heating season, totally 250,000 tons of carbon dioxide was reduced, which is equivalent to substituting 130,000 tons of standard coal and planting 140,000 trees. It has provided a heating showcase for building Xiong’an New District into a green, livable and ecological city.

Currently, various post-heating season works such as construction, maintenance and technical retrofitting are ongoing in an orderly manner.

In July, 2020, the geothermal heating & cooling construction, operation and management project in Rongdong Area of Xiong’an New District was awarded to the consortium led by Sinopec Star. Total “geothermal +” heating & cooling area, according to agreement, will reach 12 million m2.
